The lyrics to the song World on Fire by Sarah McLachan and her video is very inspiring and teaches the hardships of people who are less fortunate than us and how the world is messed up and "on fire." I like this poem because its not only powerful lyrics, but it teaches people to get up and do something about these conditions many people are in.
In the lyrics, she says "Hearts are worn in these dark ages. You're not alone in this story's pages," I think that it means that if you have ideas and want to do something for these people, you're not alone. There are many charitys and associations that not only can you join, but donate to. Also, when Sarah says "The worlds on fire and it's more than I can handle," I think this means that she tries to do things for these people, but it seems like she can't do it all by herself. She can't save everyone because its just to much fire in the world.
I think this is very sad because many times I want things that I don't even need like video games and yugioh cards when people are struggling to get things they need. Not only that, but many things are built that probably would cost a lot of money by people for public uses that don't even need to be built and the money could have been donated to help people's needs instead of their wants first. The video is very powerful. All the time, people see many other videos and speeches about how people in poor countries are in need, but it never seems to change opinions sometimes, but this video gives so many examples and really connects to the lyrics making it stronger. It showed how the amount of money for things we take for granted would be very valuable and useful to people who need help.
